THE FIVE FIRST SATURDAYS

On December 10, 1925, Our Lady appeared to Lucia with the Child Jesus beside her, holding in her hand a heart surrounded by sharp thorns.  The Child Jesus spoke:  "Have pity on the Heart of your Most Holy Mother.  It is covered with the thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment."

Then our Lady said:  "My daughter, look at my Heart surrounded with the thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude.  You, at least try to console me, and say that I promise to assist at the hour of death with all the graces necessary for salvation all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, go to confession and receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the rosary and keep me company for a quarter of an hour while meditating on the mysteries of the rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me."

To be sure that we who belong to her MMP are fully aware of the importance, nature and purpose of this practice, she devoted a special message to it on the first Saturday of August, 1979.  In the message (180) she says in part:

"These are the hours of battle, and therefore those weapons which I have prepared especially for you must be made use of the consecration to my Immaculate Heart, the frequent recitation of the holy rosary, and the practice of the five first Saturdays of the month in reparation for the offensives committed against my mother Heart."

She then repeated what she had said to Lucia in 1925 and added, "Today, reparation on the part of my children must increase, because there is an ever increasing number of offenses committed against my Immaculate Heart, by insults against my Immaculate Conception, against my perpetual virginity, against my divine and universal motherhood and against my images and because, above all, the souls of the little ones are being alienated from me.

"Through you, this filial and loving crusade of reparation must spread and grow:…Above all, the religious and the faithful consecrated to my Immaculate Heart should, on these days, gather in cenacles of life with me."

If any of you, her faithful children, are listening for the Spirit to guide you into a special apostolate, think and pray about this.  He-and she-may be calling you to spread this loving crusade of reparation.  Is it I, Lord?

St. Michael the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into Hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
