Things
at the Akana home have been enjoyable, relaxing and quiet, with some
social events that proved to be long overdue. A house full of boys is a
challenge at times, mostly in keeping up with laundry and meals. Three
gallons of milk a week!
Kyle
will enter the 10th grade next year at Campbell High School. He
is presently attending summer school with a 95% average in English. He
goes to Derby football clinic every weekend and is even pounding the gym
with mom and dad. He is growing so fast. Though he resists my daily hugs
and kisses, he does let me get close to him when tracing the sign of the
cross on his forehead, lips and heart. I am losing my charm with him, but
not the other two.
Brock
is entering the 7th grade next year and will be going to Ilima
Intermediate School. He enjoys singing, basketball and dancing. He
continues to be fascinated by the effects of popping, robot and slow
motion dance. After traumatizing his two front teeth in May, Dr. Torigoe
will be finishing up the long lengthy process this week that will keep
Brock’s teeth temporarily in place until he reaches age 18.
Bradley
is my energizer bunny who loves tae kwon do, capoeira, and break dancing.
He moves into the 5th grade this year at Kaimiloa Elementary
School. His favorite question this summer has been, “Are we going
somewhere today?” Hoping to land another day at the Fun Factory, or the
movies, or golfing. He and his brother Brock has been kept busy with Kumon
lessons in math, and home reading and writing.
Life
as a wife and mother has been pure enjoyment. It is truly my greatest
calling in life. John has been on vacation the whole month of June,
affording us the time to engage in fun activities as a family. Highlights
were our 12th Anniversary, Father’s Day, going to Kapolei’s
water park, beach, pool, movies, camping, canoeing, golfing, gym, surfing,
walking, volleyball and making t-shirts. As far as spring cleaning,
we’ve accomplished half our month’s goal.
Our
family life is held together with spiritual glue that cements us to God
through family prayer time, Sunday evening Mass, morning mass, and
especially our Thursday community night at the Matsuda’s.
My
husband and children mean the world to me. Someday I shall write a song
about them.

St. Michael the Archangel
St.
Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our safeguard against the
wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray.
And do you, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast
into Hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
